Witness. A worship series based on Acts. (Easter Year A)

Acts Worship Series: Witness.  (Easter Year A)

Jesus’ disciples had seen him die. It must have rocked their world. Three days later, everything changed again. He was alive. Resurrected from the dead! Before Jesus ascended into heaven, he have his disciples this charge: “You will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth (Acts 1:8).”

Our worship series during the season of Easter is called “Witness.” We will follow the appointed lectionary readings from the book of Acts and see how the disciples carried out the instructions Jesus gave them, through the power of the Holy Spirit. They were eyewitnesses of the resurrection. Not even the threat of death could stop them from faithfully witnessing to others. Our prayer is that through this worship series, our congregations will be encouraged and empowered to witness to the people around us, starting wherever God has planted us, and reaching out to the ends of the earth. We’ll see where our witnessing power comes from, get practical advice on how to share Christ, and get an idea of what to expect when we proclaim the wonderful Easter message of the risen Savior. God bless you as you witness!
