The End - End Times Series

“The End” is a series for the season of End Times that includes simple icons for each Sunday.

This weekend the church enters a new season of the church year, "End Times." Our series focus for the next 4 weeks is "The End." Usually I don't like to read the last chapter of a book before I have read everything leading up to it. I don't want to spoil the ending! But in this case, when the eternal welfare of my soul is on the line, when knowing the end will help me get through the middle, I want to know what happens next. God gives us a glimpse of the end. He has promised to be with us through all of the difficulties of this life, and he promises a good ending to life in a broken world. On Reformation Sunday, we will see how God gives us strength to face danger and persecution so that we can stand firm to the end. When Christ comes again to judge the living and the death, we don't have to worry because the verdict will be, "Innocent!" Christ was already punished for our sins. We may be in the middle of the battlefield right now, but on Saints Triumphant Sunday, we will be reminded that those who die in Christ have eternal joy in heaven. One day we will join them. Death is defeated. Finally, on Christ the King Sunday, we will see the king of heaven and earth who has come to set us free and give us a world without end.

This series offers flexibility with sermon texts, but we plan on the following:

  • Reformation - Mark 13:5-11

  • Last Judgment - John 5:19-24

  • Saints Triumphant - John 5:25-29

  • Christ the King - John 18:33-37
