Opening the Flower Shop

Beginning in 1908, and made official by President Woodrow Wilson in 1914, Mother's Day is celebrated on the second Sunday of each May.  This year, the date falls on May 12th.  Mother's Day is a holiday that holds tradition for many families. In our home, after church, we traditionally shop as a family for the annuals that will be going into our garden.  We usually give perennials or herbs to Oma and Nana.  Last year, the gift was an herb kit we put together.  It contained a pot, dirt, and basil seeds that the kids helped to plant with Oma and Nana.  For the rest of the summer, they thought of their grandkids each time they made bruschetta.

As Mother's Day approaches, I've opened a particular section in my Etsy shop, The Flower Shop.  The flower paintings are popular, especially among the Facebook community, so I'll do my best to keep The Flower Shop stocked with flower paintings for the season.  For more ideas on how to make this year's Mother's Day special, visit the Mother's Day Pinterest board for activities, gifts, and family-time nostalgia.
